Sheng Ge, the number one sword cultivator of the ancient Wuji Sect, awakens from a thousand-year slumber in a jade coffin to find the world unrecognizable. The cultivation era has ended, replaced by an apocalypse caused by black fog and toxic rain that transformed most of humanity into zombies and mutated flora and fauna. Upon opening her eyes, she is confronted by a grotesque figure, which she instinctively kicks away, only to discover it is her late master, Ning Zhengde, now a mindless zombie. A young boy named Ning Ah Bao, the fifty-eighth generation Sect Master of the Wuji Sect, explains that their sect is nearly extinct, with only a few dilapidated buildings remaining in a one-kilometer safe zone protected by a fading formation. The Huosha Squad, a group of five ability users, had invaded their sanctuary, killed the villagers, and infected Ning Zhengde before fleeing.
Sheng Ge, whose cultivation has dropped to less than one-tenth of its former power due to the scarcity of spiritual energy in this new era, is furious at the desecration of her sect. She tracks the Huosha Squad to the Sword Tomb, a sacred site containing countless ancestral swords, where the intruders are attempting to plunder the treasure. When the squad members mock her sect and her swords, Sheng Ge reveals her true strength. Despite her weakened state, she effortlessly neutralizes their elemental abilities using ancient talismans and summons the swords of the tomb. With a single strike, she slaughters the entire squad, reclaiming the Sword Tomb and acquiring their supplies, including food, weapons, and crystal cores that contain residual spiritual energy.
After securing the sect's treasures, Sheng Ge decides to leave the mountain as the protective formation collapses, allowing mutated beasts to invade. She takes Ah Bao and the last remaining chicken, Xiao Huang, with her. During their journey to C City Official Base to find Ah Bao’s family, Sheng Ge trains the boy rigorously, forcing him to hunt mutated beasts to improve his swordsmanship. Along the way, they encounter Song Siyu and her team from Tyrant Base, who are fleeing a horde of mutant rats. After Ah Bao demonstrates his improved skills by clearing the rats, the groups travel together. Song Siyu’s team is skeptical of Sheng Ge, assuming she is a weak woman relying on the child, but Sheng Ge remains indifferent to their judgments.
The combined group reaches a temporary stronghold where Song Siyu’s vice-captain, Yu Sheng, and other survivors are besieged by nearly a thousand zombies. The survivors are trapped on the rooftop after a betrayal by one of their own, Aunt Lin, who cuts the rescue rope, causing two people to fall toward the horde. Sheng Ge intervenes, using a floating sword to create an invisible barrier that repels the zombies and saves the falling survivors. She offers to help clear the horde in exchange for all the crystal cores the survivors possess. Song Siyu’s team agrees, and while they engage the zombies in combat, Sheng Ge and Ah Bao collect the cores from the fallen enemies. The story concludes with Sheng Ge beginning her journey to restore the Wuji Sect’s glory in a broken world, leveraging her ancient knowledge and the resources she has reclaimed from the apocalypse.
