After Quitting Her Secure Job, the Yandere Side Character Wins It All

Lan Xin, a pampered twenty-year-old heiress from the wealthy Lan family, is abruptly cast out after the family’s biological daughter returns. Stripped of her luxury and forced to return to a remote mountain village, she wanders the city in despair until she discovers a mysterious spatial dimension in her mind. This space contains a vast villa, fertile land, and a healing spring, offering her a sanctuary. Realizing she may transmigrate to another world, she uses her remaining two hundred million yuan to stockpile an enormous amount of supplies, including food, vehicles, medical equipment, and vintage items, preparing for an uncertain future.

Determined to survive, Lan Xin resolves to avoid the male lead, Huo Nanting, and steer clear of the plot’s central conflicts. Upon arriving in Dawan Village, she is assigned a sparse room in the educated youth compound, sharing it with Huo Nanting and Zhang Weiping. She immediately begins fortifying her living space, using her stockpiled materials to create a private, comfortable sanctuary within her room.

Lan Xin struggles with the harsh realities of rural labor, finding farm work physically demanding and unpleasant. She avoids the most grueling tasks, such as carrying manure and weeding in rice paddies, by bribing Village Chief Liu for lighter duties. Meanwhile, Huo Nanting begins to notice Lan Xin’s delicate and mysterious nature, developing a confusing attraction that manifests in his dreams. The social dynamics in the village shift as Tang Zhirou arrives, already scheming to secure Huo Nanting’s affection and revenge on those who wronged her in her past life. Lan Xin remains an outsider to these conflicts, focusing instead on maintaining her survival and avoiding the tragic fate written for her character.

As days pass, Lan Xin adapts to her new life by leveraging her space and resources. She continues to hide her true identity while navigating the complex relationships between the educated youths. Huo Nanting’s growing interest in her complicates her efforts to stay invisible, while Lu Qingqing’s relentless search for her adds an external threat. Lan Xin must balance her desire for a normal life with the need to evade both the novel’s plot and her former girlfriend’s obsessive pursuit.
