Qiu Yixun is the ruthless and powerful young master of the Qiu family, the leading dynasty in Longcheng. When the financially struggling Zhuang family seeks his aid to avoid bankruptcy, Qiu Yixun demands a bride in return. While the eldest daughter, Zhuang Qianqian, attempts to seduce him, Qiu Yixun’s gaze bypasses her and settles on Zhuang Jianxi, the second daughter. Zhuang Jianxi is a delicate, pale beauty who suffers from chronic illness and works as a cultural relic restorer. Despite her aloof nature, she is deeply loved by her family, particularly her brother Zhuang Qinyang and her sickly mother. The Zhuang family, controlled by the utilitarian Uncle Zhuang Biqiang, sacrifices Jianxi to save the family business, forcing her into a legal marriage with Qiu Yixun to secure their survival.

Zhuang Jianxi is relocated to the luxurious Tengjingshan Villa, where she lives under the watchful eye of the Qiu household staff. Qiu Yixun, captivated by Jianxi at first sight, pursues her with intense, dominant affection. He is intrigued by her resistance and coldness, viewing her defiance as a challenge rather than a rejection. Their early interactions are marked by tension; Jianxi rejects his advances, scratching his face and locking herself in her room, while Qiu Yixun remains undeterred, determined to win her over. He meticulously learns her dietary preferences, ordering the kitchen to prepare meals that suit her picky tastes, and insists on accompanying her, despite her clear discomfort.

The conflict escalates during Jianxi’s graduation exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts. Her classmate and friend, Lu Zhiyuan, expresses concern for her well-being, noting her recent depression. Zhuang Qianqian, jealous of Jianxi’s success, attempts to undermine her, but Qiu Yixun publicly defends Jianxi, declaring her his legitimate wife and dismissing Qianqian’s interference. When Jianxi’s abstract painting, initially criticized for its gloomy tones, is revealed to possess profound depth under specific lighting, Qiu Yixun bids three million for it, shocking the attendees and validating her artistic talent. This public display of support, however, triggers Jianxi’s anger, as she feels her autonomy is being stripped away.

Following the exhibition, a confrontation in the car leads to Jianxi impulsively jumping out to escape Qiu Yixun’s embrace. She sustains minor injuries, prompting Qiu Yixun to drop his domineering facade and tenderly treat her wounds. This moment reveals a softer side to his character, though Jianxi remains wary, suspecting he may have orchestrated the Zhuang family’s financial crisis to force her hand. Despite her suspicions, she is trapped by her love for her mother and brother, who depend on the Qiu family’s financial support for her mother’s medical care.

As days pass, a fragile routine develops. Jianxi continues her work at Professor Zhang’s restoration studio, finding solace in her craft. Qiu Yixun monitors her movements but allows her independence, occasionally interfering with his possessive nature. The narrative introduces Long Ke’er, Jianxi’s lively childhood friend, who provides a brief respite from Jianxi’s oppressive reality. However, the underlying tension remains unresolved. Jianxi vows to divorce Qiu Yixun, while he remains obsessed with breaking down her emotional walls. The story centers on the power dynamic between a captor and his captive, exploring themes of coercion, artistic identity, and the slow, reluctant thawing of a cold heart under persistent, aggressive affection.

This novel disappointed me greatly. I have no patience for making people waste their time. Although the story starts off interesting and managed to compel me to reach the end, when I was done I was not happy, i merely wanted the time I wasted reading this back.To me the MC is NOT the protagonist of the book. The protagonist shows up twice and is from a different series. In the end the MC isn't even that useful for the final enemy. So many ideas were brought up, the Saint energy, the MC's child being strong. Yet none of that is all that relevant at the end.My heartfelt opinion is that no one should invest their time into reading this book.

(copy paste sorry)This Nyoi-Bo Stuido really does pick up trash. No offense to the translators personally, but more towards the business decisions behind them. They are being hired by QI to saturate the market with the same trashy cliche novels cut from the same cloth time and time again. Rather than focus their efforts on some quality content with a fresh air of writing, we continue to get the same regurgitated crap that already saturates China's online novel market. Yes. This is once again the same crap we have gotten time and time again, some of which have at this point have long since hit 1000+ chapters and continue

Early review but I’ll still do it since I enjoyed it. Well it’s for sure a book for cultured men or woman and I do like the mc’s deceiving nature. Over all I say it’s a good read but I’ll see what happenes in later chapters.
