He Miao is a sixteen-year-old orphan living in the remote Shixi Village with her uncle, He Shun, who serves as the local doctor. Orphaned at a young age after losing her mother and then her father, she leads a quiet, frugal life gathering herbs and embroidering handkerchiefs to sell in nearby towns. Her romantic prospects were dashed two months prior when her childhood fiancé, Wu Cheng, broke off their engagement through a letter, a move orchestrated by his ambitious mother, Widow Wu, who desired He Miao’s father for herself. Since the breakup, Widow Wu has frequently harassed He Miao, creating a hostile domestic environment. One morning, while foraging near the village edge, He Miao discovers a severely injured man lying in the forest. Despite her fear, she summons Big Brother Da Hu to help carry the stranger back to her home. He Shun treats the man’s deep abdominal wound and head injury, confirming that while his physical wounds are serious, they are not fatal.

Upon waking, the man suffers from complete amnesia. He cannot recall his name, his origins, or how he came to be injured on the mountainside. He Miao names him Ah Xun based on a character embroidered inside his boots. As Ah Xun recovers under He Miao’s care, a close bond forms between them. He Miao provides him with food, medicine, and comfort, while Ah Xun, though physically weak, displays latent combat instincts. When Widow Wu bursts into He Miao’s courtyard to verbally abuse the girl, Ah Xun instinctively throws a stone with remarkable precision, striking Widow Wu and forcing her to flee. This incident marks a turning point, as Ah Xun begins to develop protective feelings toward He Miao, vowing that no one will bully her while he is present. Meanwhile, He Miao’s reputation becomes a topic of village gossip, prompting matchmakers to visit her home with proposals from other suitors, including a wealthy man named Zhou Da Wu. Ah Xun, unaware of his past but acutely aware of his growing attachment, becomes jealous and anxious about He Miao’s potential remarriage.

The village authorities, led by Village Chief Bai Wang and his daughter Bai Shu, grow concerned about the impropriety of an unmarried woman housing an unrelated man. Bai Shu, a former concubine who has fallen out of favor with her wealthy patron, sees Ah Xun as a potential opportunity to regain status and attempts to lure him away by suggesting he move into the village chief’s household. The village women pressure He Miao to ask Ah Xun to leave to preserve her reputation. He Miao, respecting social norms but reluctant to lose Ah Xun’s companionship, hesitates. Ah Xun, overhearing the discussions, realizes that his presence is causing trouble for He Miao and that he must take action to secure his place by her side. He decides that he will not let her be taken by another man or driven away by social pressure. The narrative shifts as Ah Xun’s memories remain elusive, but his emotional connection to He Miao deepens, leading to a conflict between his desire to protect her and the external forces threatening their fragile domestic arrangement.

He Miao continues to care for Ah Xun, even teaching him village life and making him handmade shoes, while Ah Xun struggles with his lack of identity. The tension escalates as Widow Wu’s harassment continues and new suitors are introduced. Ah Xun’s latent skills and mysterious background suggest he is not an ordinary villager, a fact hinted at by the quality of his original clothing and his innate combat abilities. The story sets the stage for Ah Xun to reclaim his identity or forge a new one with He Miao, as he prepares to confront the social and personal obstacles standing in the way of their relationship. The central conflict revolves around whether Ah Xun can remember who he is and whether he and He Miao can remain together despite the village’s disapproval and the interference of those who wish to separate them.

Just gonna say... Stacy be the real og, she a homie. 4.6 stars because I don't feel the story really progressed fast enough, at chap 35 nothing has changed a sufficient amount given its been 35 chaps. He still has the same 2 girls, same problems, nothing new since chap 1 (other than getting 2 of the 3 girls, of course).Other than story development being a little slow ? It's top notch ?Worthy of the 1st place it has ?

I put 1 star not because of the story. But because this is simply an exact copy of the novel "The Legendary Mechanic" which already has manhua adaptation. There is not even a chang in setting! Only changing name and voila! this is it! Same game genre, same class, same test subject organisation, same code name "zero
