A Summer Kiss for You

Sang Sui is a university freshman whose mother, Yun Man, moved to Yun Capital to raise her after her father's death. To repay the Sheng family for their assistance in securing her education, Sang Sui lives with the Sheng family's grandmother and works part-time jobs. She has harbored feelings for Sheng Yize, her mother's close friend's son, since childhood. Sheng Yize is the heir to the Sheng Corporation, a wealthy and powerful young man who attends Yunjing University. He maintains a cold and distant demeanor toward Sang Sui, explicitly telling her not to call him "brother" and treating her as a stranger despite their families' close ties.

The story begins at a luxury yacht birthday party where Sang Sui works as a waitress. She accidentally bumps into someone, shattering a bottle of Romanée-Conti wine worth two hundred thousand yuan. Zou Jin, the birthday host, forces her to drink with his friends as partial compensation. Sang Sui, who has low alcohol tolerance, becomes severely intoxicated and collapses. Sheng Yize, who had been observing her throughout the evening, intervenes. He claims Sang Sui is his little sister, which silences Zou Jin and the other partygoers. He then carries the drunken Sang Sui out of the party and takes her to his off-campus apartment.

At Sheng Yize's apartment, Sang Sui vomits repeatedly due to her intoxication. Sheng Yize initially appears cold and indifferent, even leaving the apartment temporarily. However, he returns with hangover medicine and toiletries for her. The next morning, Zhou Xizi, Sheng Yize's girlfriend, arrives at the apartment. After Zhou Xizi leaves, Sheng Yize takes Sang Sui to an expensive breakfast restaurant, where he calls Zou Jin to apologize on her behalf and arranges for her phone and bag to be delivered.

Sang Sui learns from her mother that Sheng Yize only helped her because Uncle Sheng asked him to. This revelation deepens her sense of inadequacy and reinforces her belief that Sheng Yize dislikes her. At university, Sang Sui's roommates gossip about Sheng Yize being seen holding hands with Zhou Xizi and ask about her relationship with him. Sang Sui insists they are not close, though she harbors secret feelings for him. She encounters Xie Jingyu, a handsome classmate who helps her carry boxes of pears from her grandmother. Xie Jingyu probes Sang Sui about her relationship with Sheng Yize, revealing his own interest in her. Sheng Yize appears and confronts Xie Jingyu, displaying clear jealousy and possessiveness.

Throughout the narrative, Sheng Yize's behavior toward Sang Sui remains contradictory. He publicly claims her as his sister to protect her, yet privately treats her with coldness and impatience. He intervenes when she is in distress, brings her home, buys her medicine, and takes her to breakfast, but simultaneously warns her not to look at him and maintains emotional distance. Chen Yi, Sheng Yize's close friend, suggests to Sang Sui that Sheng Yize may not actually hate her, but rather harbors some hidden feelings he has not revealed. The story explores the complex dynamics between Sang Sui's unrequited love and Sheng Yize's ambiguous behavior, set against the backdrop of wealthy elite circles and university life.
