Nan Qiao transmigrates into the body of a woman who shares her name, finding herself in the middle of a malicious scheme orchestrated by her best friend Wen Shanshan and her ambitious mother-in-law, Li Guilan. The original owner of this body was destined for a tragic end, exploited by her husband He Jianhui’s family and eventually dying in poverty. Recognizing the danger, Nan Qiao swiftly counters the plot. Wen Shanshan attempts to drug Nan Qiao with spiked wine to facilitate a sexual encounter with He Jianhui, but Nan Qiao outsmarts them by swapping glasses, causing Wen Shanshan to fall into a drugged stupor instead. Nan Qiao then disguises herself as Wen Shanshan and lures He Jianhui into her home, where he is caught in the act by Li Guilan and neighborhood residents. This reversal exposes the conspiracy and humiliates her enemies.
Following the confrontation, Nan Qiao asserts her dominance over the hostile household. She physically attacks Li Guilan when the older woman attempts to slander her, forcing a public reckoning. Under pressure from the neighborhood director, Li Guilan is compelled to return the military allowance booklet she had withheld for five years and repay Nan Qiao for misappropriated funds. During this process, Nan Qiao discovers a devastating secret: Li Guilan had lied about her baby dying at birth and actually sold her four-year-old daughter for a mere five yuan. Devastated but resolute, Nan Qiao tracks down her daughter, Ye Miaomiao, who is living in abject poverty and suffering abuse in a rural village.
Nan Qiao rescues Miaomiao from her adoptive parents, the Ye family, after confronting the harsh conditions and negotiating their release. Upon returning home, Nan Qiao discovers a spatial dimension hidden within a jade pendant left by her predecessor, which provides her with a luxurious villa, infinite food supplies, and healing spring water. This discovery significantly improves her and her daughter’s quality of life, allowing her to heal Miaomiao’s physical wounds and provide her with proper nutrition and care. Nan Qiao also sells her factory job to a neighbor, Director Qu, to fund her travel to the military base where her husband, Zhou Yanchuan, serves as a regiment commander.
Before departing, Nan Qiao systematically loots the Zhou family home, stripping Li Guilan of all her accumulated wealth and valuables. She also frames Zhou Pingping, Li Guilan’s daughter, by forging a voluntary application to send her to the countryside, eliminating a key antagonist. As Nan Qiao travels with Miaomiao, she faces threats from Wen Shanshan’s brothers and He Jianhui, who attempts to hire human traffickers to abduct her. Meanwhile, Li Guilan contacts Zhou Yanchuan with fabricated news, claiming Nan Qiao has run away with another man and left a child behind, aiming to sever their marriage and regain control of the family’s finances. Zhou Yanchuan, unaware of the truth, is left reeling by these accusations as Nan Qiao and Miaomiao continue their journey toward him, setting the stage for a dramatic reunion and further conflict.
