In the depths of my thoughts, Alaric, my werewolf alter ego, softly growled, "Mate is near," echoing through my mind. The celebration marking Dave's ascension to the Wheatstone Pack Alpha position turned out to be an unexpected nightmare. I never would have guessed that the long-awaited partner I had yearned for would turn out to be Dave, the future leader, someone I had never remotely admired.
Dave, with his disgusting demeanor, excessive pride, and arrogance, had always held no appeal to me. When he rejected me publicly, denying our supposed bond due to my inability to satisfy his desires, he cast me out from the pack with a humiliating injury – my shattered arm. Strangely, the wound inflicted during our first encounter remained unhealed, leaving me helpless and vulnerable.
With only one functioning arm, I retreated to a different territory as a weakened creature, unable to defend myself or shift into my wolf form. Trapped in this vulnerable state, I found myself taken in by another pack, but my inability to shift left me exposed and defenseless, stranded in a world without my wolf's protection.
Lost in contemplation, I wondered, "What path lies ahead for me now?"
