When you think about any kind of videogame, really any kind, might it be some kind of RPG, MMO or single player, it is not the players that come to mind, nor their awesome achievements and feats they mastered.
It is something less palpable; it is the data, the programm... the NPCs.
They come in many forms, but when you think about... let's say: RPG's, they all have one thing in common: strength.
Whereas anyone can beat down another player with enough skill, it is virtually impossible to beat a raidboss on your own. You would need 50 or maybe even 100 of your level to stand a chance against those massive behemoths that can erase your entire HP bar before you could even uncork your first pot.
It is not the players that are the strongest, it is the NPCs.
