2000 years ago, the world as they knew it changed. The highly evolved society collapsed as magic rose in its stead. Energies ran wild, new sentient races appeared, and technology fell.
Joshua Michaels knows nothing about this, granted he does live on another world, so its probably okay. Instead he's just taking care of his job, so he can pay for videogames, when a new game's beta is suddenly announced. Before this the game was completely unknown, it had no publicity, and had spread no foreknowledge.
Some how Josh manages to become one of the beta players, allowing him to join the game. He has no more than signed the deal, when something pulls him away.
Next thing Josh knows, he finds himself dying of blood loss intended as a sacrifice for a demon summoning, unfortunately for the cult, something goes wrong, and the demon takes them as sacrifice instead of Josh. Now the demon is demanding a boon, and leaving the choice to Josh, and not the cultists.
But what will his choice be?
