On a world fast falling into the Abyss while comfortably basking the warm glow of the Inferno, the Gods have gone mad, doing little to stop it. Real heroes don't exist. Evil is mainly greed and fear or a combination of the two. Altruism is the vainglorious delusion of legacy. Right and Good are things best left to other people. Kings kill as many of their own subjects as their enemies do. Lords are as despotic as they can be without outright revolt and everyone in between jostles for space enough to breath, crushing their neighbours in the process. Some people see this as a freedom of a sort. Others see opportunity. Maybe they're just more realistic about what life is though. Pragmatism has its benefits after all and a little reality and a lot of guile will keep you alive much longer than petty things like hope, idealism and dreams. Though sometimes it takes an outcast to do the right thing. Sometimes it takes the dead to save the living. Sometimes only madness can lead to truth and sometimes it takes a demon to defeat the forces of hell. Nothing is impossible.
