"You were open to me, Princess, letting me touch what I believed was love, even though it was tainted by my... transgressions," he murmured, tightening his hold around her. Yet, as he untied the knot of her nightgown, her heart sank further. "Would it help to ease your heartache if I took you back to my bed?" he asked huskily, his words revealing a cruelty that stung more than the act itself.
