In the story from DokiDoki, we meet high school freshman Shotaro Izumi, who finds himself facing a unique dilemma. Once upon a time, he and his childhood friend Makoto Natsuki were inseparable. However, things took a drastic turn when Natsuki's charming personality and good looks garnered him a massive fan base, turning him into a celebrity overnight. This sudden popularity caused Izumi's life to spiral, as his innocent comment about Natsuki in elementary school led to widespread animosity from their classmates.
The incident strained their friendship, leaving Izumi feeling isolated and resentful. As Natsuki continues to soar in fame, Izumi's social standing deteriorates, making him a bitter outcast. One day, when Natsuki seeks to mend their relationship, Izumi, in an attempt to provoke a reaction, jokingly suggests they enter a 'chaste, platonic courtship.'
To Izumi's surprise, Natsuki takes the suggestion seriously, reigniting old bonds and stirring up questions about whether their bond has evolved beyond friendship during their time apart.
