Kaim takes his chances at life, as one of the last surviving members of the human race, and enrolls into Ordinance, a place for higher learning and definitely something he lacks natural gifts for. Scorned by the overwhelming and populous Demikin, he must learn of the world's history, present, and the future, just as otherworldly beings start to ravage it. The change is upon the world, and Kaim must learn how to change with it.
