The priest solemnly asked, "Lucas Marshall, do you promise to marry Alina Martin as your legally binding wife, promising to support and cherish her from now on, through good times and bad, wealth and adversity, sickness and health, until death separates you?"
Lucas replied, "I do, I promise."
Then, addressing me, the priest questioned, "Alina Martin, do you consent to marry Lucas Marshall, making him your legally bound husband, promising to stand by him, share life's ups and downs, prosperity and hardship, health and illness, until death marks the end of your union?"
But my response was, "No, I cannot make that commitment."
