A small but tidy courtyard near the textile mill where Feng Wan and Shen Mingzhu stay for the night. It has an empty room with a wooden plank bed, a table missing a leg, two stools, new window paper, and a swept clean floor. Water comes from a public faucet at the alley entrance and the toilet is in the corner of the yard.
