The shop inherited by Lin Xiaoman and Lin Erhu from their deceased parents. It was located in a remote corner of the county town, considered the most out-of-the-way spot among nearby shops. The brick-and-tile building was run-down but intact, with twelve square tables and four long benches inside. It had been rented to a steamed bun seller the previous year who left after a year.
